We’re pleased to announce that Shepherds Friendly employees can now enjoy even more benefits. Two new added extras have been made available to our team: a cycle to work scheme and the opportunity to buy more holidays.
At Shepherds Friendly, we pride ourselves on being member-focused and we know that we can’t provide our members with the best possible service without a happy and engaged team. So, as part of our commitment to creating an environment in which our employees feel valued and motivated, it’s vital we listen to them.
Our annual survey gives employees another platform to be heard. Following this year’s survey, it was clear there was a great deal of interest in buying extra holidays and a cycle to work scheme. So, we took the suggestions on board and these have now been added to the variety of benefits our employees already enjoy.
The cycle to work scheme gives employees the option of spreading the cost of a bicycle and related equipment (including helmets, lights and reflective clothing) up to a value of £1,000, through salary sacrifice.
The scheme has many benefits. It encourages employees to adopt a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of commuting, that also allows them to boost their wellbeing and save money. In addition to this, the carbon footprint of individuals using the scheme and that of the society will be reduced.
Our second new benefit offers employees a more flexible approach to annual leave. They will now have the option to purchase up to 5 additional holidays a year. This is on top of our existing 25-day allowance, plus bank holidays.
We have introduced this in order to help our employees achieve a work-life balance that suits their needs. Whether they choose to use these extra holidays to spend more time with their families, for the trip of a lifetime or just for some down time, it’s totally up to them!
Both benefits have been well-received by the team and Nasrin Hossain, our Culture Director, said:
“We are delighted that we have been able to increase the benefits we offer our team here at Shepherds Friendly. Striving to create a positive working environment, where satisfaction levels are high, and our staff feel valued and driven to achieve the best outcome for our members is always at the heart of the Society’s people strategy. Engaged employees have always been key drivers for our success.”
